Greg Schackert

Coach Schackert is considered the “guru” of X’s & O’s at HLB and has been an Instructor with HLB since 2004. A long-time coach at the high school level, he began his career with HLB as Head Coach in the Team Program, continuing in that area since spring of 2004.

In the Fall of 2006, Coach Schackert has also been named to direct the development of the HLB coaching staff. He is an outstanding teacher in both group and private settings, where he is well known for breaking down drills so players gain an understanding of how/why each drill is important.

Associate and Senior Associate (2005) Instructor, HLB;
Head Coach: 2004 Boy’s 12U, 2005 Boy’s 13U; 2006 Assistant Girl’s Coach 14U & 17U

2006 – present:

Girl’s Varsity Assistant, Jeffersontown High School

2005 - 2006:

Head Girl’s Coach, Brown High School

2001 - 2005:

Head Freshman, JV coach and Varsity Assistant at Fairdale High School, where helped lead team to District Championship.

Coach Schackert began his coaching career while still a high school student at Shawnee High School in Louisville. For over 20 years, he also coached in the Catholic grade school system, Western youth league and has coached many AAU teams in both boys and girls basketball. He has three children – all very involved in athletics – including his son, Tyler, who has been in HLB programs since 2004. He is a PDS (Professional Development Series) certified member of the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches.)
